Aboriginal Strategic Planning

Creating a meaningful strategic plan with Aboriginal communities is difficult due to the broad scope that it can take on.  From economic development to business development, to social obligations, governance, and program management, Aboriginal communities have a lot to consider when creating their ‘map’ into the future.  In addition to this, Aboriginal leaders have to manage internal and external expectations, many times with short 2 year terms.  Essentially we are telling them to create a long term map for success, but with two years to do it in, and if it incorporates some challenges or stumble along the way, don’t worry, we will vote someone else in.  The entire system is set up with so many layers of challenges.

With these challenges in mind, we will help you set up a strategic plan that will help you navigate throughout your term, help you create a map that will communicate with your community where they are heading – and help them to understand the need for some difficult changes to get buy in and manage expectations.  History has shown us that what we have been doing isn’t working, so let’s try something a bit different.  Get rid of the fluff, get to the core issues, and role up our sleeves and get to work.

We offer three different kinds of strategic plans.

1. Economic Development and Business Development where we focus our attention on how to create business opportunities and development
2. Community Plan where we create strategies for the existing portfolios – health, education, housing, social development, justice, economic development
3. Comprehensive Plan – where we take a holistic look at ‘Development’ finding ways for you to collide the core values of the community and enable you to take care of the social aspects of your community and business development at the same time.

Our goal is to leave you with a clear map. A map that will take you step by step from where you are to where you want to be, with detailed check-stops along the way that will help you measure your success. We understand that your community members expect results, and we will work with you to ensure that those expectations are managed and results are realized.
